IET - The Institution of Engineering and Technology
EngTech Qualifications
Acquiring your EngTech qualifications tells a prospective employer that you are a highly skilled and have significant experience in your field. Once you have successfully completed an approved apprenticeship scheme, you are eligible to apply for your Fast Track EngTech qualifications.
A form will need to be filled in and you will need to supply some supporting documentation. As part of the requirements, you will be expected to commit to ongoing professional development activities. You have the choice of submitting your own plan or following the Development Action Plan developed by IET. (You should plan on reaching your goals in the next 12-18 months.)
CEng (Chartered Engineer)
A CEng use their creativity to develop solutions to engineering problems. To accomplish this goal, they must possess both leadership ability and effective interpersonal skills.
In order to complete the CEng qualifications, you will need to demonstrate that you have demonstrated the required skills for 16 generic competences. In your application, you will need to provide supporting evidence for each one in turn.
IEng (Incorporated Engineer)
An Incorporated Engineer has the qualifications to manage engineering applications. They may be involved in design, construction, operations, manufacturing, or development tasks.
To obtain your IEng qualifications, you will need to provide evidence that you have demonstrated each of the 16 generic competences listed in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UKSPEC).
