The Achievement Measurement 2, or AM2, is a Practical Performance Assessment that is administered by the National Electrotechnical Training (NET). Apprentices sign up for the AM2 to complete the requirements for their electrical qualifications.
The AM2 assessment is taken over three days at an independent testing facility. It must remain neutral, and cannot be taken at a college or training school. You will want to book your space for your AM2 well in advance, since spaces do tend to fill up quickly.
Electrical Qualifications: AM2 Sections
Four sections make up the AM2. They are as follows:
• Section A: The first task you will be asked to perform is a composite installation. You will be given an installation which has been partially completed and asked to finish the job. You will be provided with a wiring diagram for this portion of the AM2. To successfully complete the installation, you must be familiar with simple motor circuits, MIMS, and how to terminate SWA (armored) cable. (MIMS stands for Mineral Insulated Metal Sheathed.) A visual and function test will be required after you have completed your work.
• Section B: This part of the AM2 to get your electrical qualifications involves inspecting and testing the installation.
• Section C: This section of the AM2 focuses on a risk assessment, as well as safe isolation procedures.
• Section D: In the final stage of the AM2, the apprentice will be asked to diagnose fault and repairing the problem.
Electrical Qualifications: How to Pass the AM2
You want to take all the steps necessary to prepare yourself fully for the AM2; after all, it is the last step you need to complete to get your electrical qualifications. Here are some things you want to focus on to make sure that you pass your assessment:
