City and Guilds 2392-10 Level 2 Qualification

The City and Guilds 2392-10 Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification electrical qualification is aimed at currently practicing electricians who require training update before going on to the City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations 2391-10.  As the pass rate on the 2391-10 electrical qualification is so low, the 2392-10 may give you a solid foundation to achieve success.

Recommendations and Requirements for 2392-10

There are no formal entry requirements for this electrical qualification, but it’s recommended that all candidates have basic knowledge and understanding of the current BS7671 electrical science and principles. Most electrical workers will have experience with these concepts through on-the-job training. Candidates are limited to those aged 18 and above.

Others may wish to obtain the City and Guilds 2382 via home study, before taking the City and Guilds 2392, which can also be taken as a home study course.

The electrical qualifications are made up of several different components. It’s important to understand which ones you need to reach your specific career goals.

The 2392-10 qualification aims to:

• Assist those who want to work as electricians in the electrotechnical sector

• Allow candidates hands-on experience developing the skills needed to gain employment

• Assist those working in other trades who occasionally need to take on electrotechnical work

• Help in the achievement of the 2391-10 City & Guilds Level 3 certificate in inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations

Electrical Qualifications: Testing for 2392-10

To gain the 2392-10 Level 2 Certificate, you’ll need to complete two assessments. The first is a 1 ½ hour GOLA closed book multiple-choice 50 question test that can be taken online. This written examination is part 101 of the 2392-10 electrical qualification. The second part, 2392-102, is a practical assessment. Both of these electrical qualifications assessments are graded on a pass or fail basis.

Electrical Qualifications: Unit Knowledge for 2392-10

In Unit 101, you’ll learn how to prepare for and carry out initial inspection and testing. This unit takes about 30-35 hours to complete, and can be done on a full time or part time basis according to your needs and the practices of your school and/or employer. After completing part 101 of the 2392-10 electrical qualification, you’ll gain the following knowledge:

• Requirements for initial verification

• Accurately conduct the initial inspection and testing of an installation

• Statutory and non-statutory requirements and guidance materials that apply to the inspection and testing of electrical installations

• The needs for the statutory and non-statutory requirements

• Essential information about acquiring Electrical Installation Certificate and Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate

In Unit 102, the practical assessment, you’ll demonstrate your ability to put the skills you learned in part 101 to use. The 2392-102 assessment will be comprised of a simulated electrical installation on a test rig.

To gain the 2392-10 electrical qualification, contact your employer or local college for information, or consider home study courses.
